project description
Client: Landeskrankenanstalten Betriebsgesellschaft - KABEG
Architect: Hinterwirth Architekten ZT OG
Functions:
As part of the action plan, which has been continuously adapted since 2012, the LKH Wolfsberg will be gradually renewed in order to ensure up-to-date patient care and to meet future requirements in the health care system.
The Wolfsberg LKH will be developed through the creation of two equal visitor and patient entrances, both of which lead to the central entrance hall on main level 2. The northern hospital access serves for the delivery of patients to the interdisciplinary emergency outpatient department and is optimized by the creation of a spacious rescue hall.
The MR Institute, which is partly externally operated, located in the east of Level 2 of Building D, will have its own operating hours, independent of the hospital, through a separate entrance. The Oncology Day Clinic will be newly constructed as a single-storey building with its own access.
Challenges overcome:
Conversion during ongoing operations in several construction phases; tight schedule; many user representatives (departments) with different wishes and requirements; compliance with current standards in the existing building; high installation density with low floor height; helipad in operation during construction;
