project description

modernization and expansion of the tourism school

Project type: accommodation, hotel, gastronomy
Location: 5020 Salzburg

Client: Wirtschaftskammer Salzburg
Architect: Karl und Bremhorst Architekten

Functions:
The Tourism School Salzburg will be modernized and extended.
The existing school wing will be demolished and a new 2-story school wing with administration, classrooms, practice (teaching kitchens, buffet, bar, etc.), an auditorium and general areas or common areas will be built. A roof lantern provides daylight for the interior. In the basement, an underground garage will be built as well as a central checkroom including wet rooms, various technical rooms for electrical engineering and HVAC, storage areas for the practice, rooms for housekeeping including laundry and archive rooms.
In addition, a new wing is being built at right angles to the school wing, which will be used as a boarding school for girls and will accommodate 86 beds as well as social rooms. The boarding school is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Challenges to be overcome:
Conversion during ongoing operation with adjacent temporary container. The underground structures are in the groundwater body and are therefore designed to be oil- and watertight.
